Meter Replacement

With conventional water meters, as meters age, a combination of physical wear and environmental conditions cause them to record consumption at levels lower than actual use. Replacing meters will reduce the amount of water that is not correctly attributed to the user of the water. High levels of unaccounted for water used in the system also make it more difficult to determine if there are leaks within the system.

In October of 2021, Skyview  replaced all water meters with Kamstrup electronic ‘smart’ meters. These new meters allow the meter reading to be done remotely, by the meter reader driving by in a car. Meter readings are recorded and sent the office for accounting/billing. The Kamstrup electronic meters have a visual read face for confirming readings if desired. These meters will provide more accurate readings for their 16–20-year life span, as well as slightly increased flow capacity since there is no mechanical restriction within the meter.

When meters are replaced, those with older meters that may be reading low may experience slightly higher water usage costs, as the new meters more accurately record actual water usage.
